by Budgeting your Big Picture
Budgeting is for Everyone
It doesn't matter if you're living paycheck to paycheck or earning 7 figures. The important thing is understanding how much money you have, where it goes and how that aligns with your financial goals. You could be paying off debt, saving up for a cottage trip, a wedding next year, starting a family in 5 years or building generational wealth - it all starts here.
Know how much you take home every month. Use past pay stubs or bank statements.
Track Your Spending
Start with regular payments. Categorize them to understand where your money is going.
Set realistic short/long term goals. Including them in a budget will keep you on track and accountable.
Change Your Habits
This is a marathon, not a sprint. Revisit your spending, readjust your habits and revise your budget.
Birth of the Free Budget Planner
Every dollar counts for those getting out of debt or who are living paycheck to paycheck. It was disheartening to see on my own journey that I'd have to pay for a lot of tools out there. Some "free" tools online make you the product, not the consumer. This means you'll be paying in other ways like giving up your data. Even if their tool is free now, through a simple acquisition policies can quickly change and your data would have already been mined. Linking any free tool to my bank account was too invasive and thus came the rise of my own budgeting spreadsheet!
